Some say it's because there are too many boot-up ads, some say using two remote controls is too much of a hassle, and others say the variety shows just aren't good anymore... These reasons all sound reasonable, but upon closer thought—if the TV were truly "indispensable", these inconveniences wouldn't stop you from turning it on.
